Round 2 (1) - Kaylynn Spitzig

I have had a busy week. The shop is a success! I did not expect that when I started. The locals are glad that they don't have to take the ferry for everything they need.

Round 2 - Arnoud Storm

Winter has come. It's cold outside, there even was snow, which is rare for these islands. The ferry did not go for a couple of days. I was glad that I had stocked up some food in my freezer.
It's nice to have Kaylynn around, but she is often very busy with her new shop. She promised to help me paint my house, but till now she did not have the time. I could have started myself, but... Well... let's say I am bit lazy.

I am still feeling lonely. Days are short, the nights are very dark. The house is not very warm. Sometimes there are tourists, they arrive with the ferry and leave again at night, because there are no hotels or restaurants. I think if there were more places for them, they would stay longer. Most of them are bird watchers. I have seen quite a few birds here that I had never seen before.

One day I went for a walk and there was a house, almost like mine, that also had been for sale, but now the sign was gone and there were people at work. I met my new neighbor, his name is Paul Kievit and he is a plumber.

Round 1 - Kaylynn Spitzig

My first week in my new home. I did not sleep well the first night. I had expected a quiet life and absolute silence at night, but there was music from my neighbors all night long. So I decided to introduce myself and get to know them better. Maybe later I will try to ask them very politely if they could please be a bit more quiet.

In the house at the left lives a man who is retired. His name is Christian Love. He was born on this island, but lived most of his life on the mainland. He came back now that he does not have to work anymore. He is not very friendly, I must say.

Round 1 - Arnoud Storm

Once I caught my first fish I realized that it looked a bit different from what I buy in the supermarket. I would have to clean it myself. I found a book in the book shelf about cooking fish. Brrrr... I will have to get used to this.

Intro - Arnoud Storm

Hello, my name is Arnoud Storm. I am a Dutch history teacher. Was. I was a history teacher. And I must say, not a very good one. I know a lot about history, but I don't know enough about children to motivate them and to keep order in de classroom. Between you and me, I hated my job. Last summer it was such a relief that it was vacation. I went on a bike tour in the north of my country, with the ferry I arrived on a small island that I liked so much. It is called De Kraaienplaat. Which means something like The Crows Shallow. It's a small island with lovely villages, there are lots of birds, there is a beach, where it is always quiet, even in summer.
